How to make students speak

How to make students speak

after two years experience of teaching English four teenagers, young and adults I feel I should share some information about my classes with dear English teachers and English students

let me begin  from first day of starting a class

1st principle that I always consider is that the students are someone like me not lower than not higher than me , this helps me understand my students better and they will understand me better too, according to this principle I start to have a short and brief conversation with all of the students and force them to make short sentences to explain how they feel , after that I give them enough confidence of what they already know ,  and this helps mw make sure that for next session they will go home and study or review what they have studied before for example at high school or language labs

2nd principle is to make a friendship with my students so that they will feel free to express their idea about everything that they like

3rd principle is for 3rd or 4th session that I will ask students to have a discussion class for their 3rd or 4th session. I can''t express how much effective id this principle

4th principle that I speak about that in my classes is that they are allowed to bring any information or that they can give lecture about every thing that they like., this definitely helps me to understand exactly what are their favorites because they will ask me for example " can we speak about football?" so that T understand some of students are interested in football and so on

5th principle that I will speak about that to students is about rules of my class.I will explain them about rules of class that can help themselves to learn better and more

6th principle is to teach them how they study book an a way that they can understand and use every part of the book

7th principle is the usual teaching until 10th session , after that on 10th session I will inform them that next session is exam session, some of the students will say " No , lets postpone it" But I wont accept and I will give the exam and in most cases they have got A mark

8th principle after midterm exam I go beyond the book and will bring extra sources to class and will teach them how they can use other sources for learning English for example I will introduce them some story books , some vocabulary books and some grammar books to buy and study at home . of course I will teach them how they can study at home and I call ir beyond the book

9th and others will come soon
